Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay Open Water Fishing
Welcome to Unlimited Trophy Outfitters open water fishing page. Here you will find out a little more about our great area and what a great fishery we have available to us in our little piece of heaven on the south shore of Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay and just to the south dozens of great inland waters. Our home port is out of Ashland, WI located on the south shore of the legendary Chequamegon Bay. Chequamegon Bay is one the the top rated trophy smallmouth waters in the Country. The smallmouth fishery is protected and has been for 20 years with a 22" 1 fish a day limit which has turned this fishery into a smallmouth mecca over the past few decades. We are known as a premier trophy smallmouth water destination for serious bass fisherman from all over the world. But we are also home to some great walleye and pike fishing as well as some hot shallow water trout and salmon fishing how about huge rod pounding lake sturgeon that can go over 70lbs+? We have those too! While you are out with us you can learn new tactics and some forgotten ones as well. You will leave with more knowledge about targeted fish species and the tactics to catch more fish out on your own. Please take a look and find your next adventure with us on Lake Superior or one of our great inland waters that we have available to our great area.
This is one of Captain Aron's specialties: fishing and teaching about our world class smallmouth bass on the bay. We have our peak time and our slower times throughout the year on the bay. If you are in to huge smallies and big numbers, you better set some time aside during the mouths of May and early June for the shallow water pre-spawn and post spawn bite that Chequamegon bay is known for. Also set some time aside in October and November for some of the hottest smallie fishing of the year hands down! We ask folks to leave their ultra-lite gear at home for these hogs as these are not light gear fish by any means. For tackle, medium-light to medium-heavy tackle is best in spinning or casting spooled with 8 to 10lb line whatever you prefer bring what you have or we can supply gear for your trip. One thing that is out of this world though is a 5 plus lb Chequamegon bay smallie on a 6 or 8wt fly rod! If you are into fly fishing and like smallies this is your bucket trip! Our Bay smallies average 3.5 to 4.5 pounds with some going well over 5 or even 6 lbs and 18" to 19" with a 20 incher or 2 boated most days . If you want to land some huge smallies come on up to the south shore of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon bay and fish a true world class smallmouth fishery. U.T.O also offers great inland Bass trips as well around the Cable and Hayward area waters, Don't let the size of these waters fool you! Our local inland waters provide some action packed fishing as well our inland waters can and do produce bass up too and past the 20" size most will run from 14" to 19" on avg from the local inland waters we have right out out back door.
Northern Wisconsin is a walleye hot spot for many anglers throughout the Midwest. Anglers travel many miles to the Northwoods to target walleyes be it on Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay for action or trophies. Every time you drop a line fishing the bay you could catch the walleye of a life time. Many walleyes over 30" are landed every season from these great waters. Our avg walleye in the bay run 20" to 24" most days but there are plenty of nice eaters and trophy's in these waters too. We also offer trips around the Cable and Hayward area waters as well, These inland waters offer up some great action as well it's tough to beat a evening spent jigging up a nice catch with family and friends from these great waters. There are some real trophies available to the inland waters but most are just great action fishery's for eater size walleye perfect for the fryer. If your looking for a great evening of walleye fishing and a great meal a evening on a local inland lake might just be the ticket for your group. We do both half day trips 4 hrs or fullday trips 8hrs for walleye.
We are very fortunate to have a great panfish fishery in our local area of Northern Wisconsin. We tend to target our bluegill and crappie around the Cable and Hayward, WI area waters. These very well known tourism destinations of Wisconsin have great numbers of panfish (i.e. bluegill, perch, and crappie) . From eaters to trophy size fish, we have what it takes for a great panfish trip for you or your family. Our peak times are the months of May and June and again in late September and October. We have like many other future thinking anglers have set a self imposed Panfish limit of 10 per person per-day for our clients instead of the state set limit of 25 Panfish per day. We have adopted this self set limit to help insure our future fishery for genaration's to come! From ultra light tackle to fly fishing poppers this is a trip that will turn any adult in to a 10 year old kid again!
